While all roofing materials are represented at IRE, asphalt remains a cornerstone material in the roofing market.  Asphalt roofing market applications account for up to 20% of all liquid asphalt demand in the North American market.  Asphalt shingles cover approximately 80% of North American homes out outcompeting materials like wood, tile and metal.  Asphalt roofing products extend beyond shingles, including rolled roofing, underlayments, built-up asphalt (BUR) systems, coatings, emulsions and adhesives.

“Asphalt remains the backbone of residential roofing due to its unmatched durability and cost-effectiveness,” said Greg Keeler, Technical Services Leader at Owens Corning. “We’re seeing continued innovation in coatings and installation standards that elevate performance and sustainability.”

IRE 2026 features 61 formal educational sessions led by industry experts. “We curate our education tracks with input from a strong advisory board,” said Brandi McElhaney, IRE Show Manager. “It’s about delivering content that reflects the real challenges and opportunities roofing professionals face today.”

Attendees can explore topics ranging from business strategy to technical deep-dives like asphalt shingle codes, standards and installation, presented by Owens Corning’s Greg Keeler or hear an overview of Modified Bitumen Roof Systems, presented by Siplast’s Jim Kirby.

IRE offers visibility to evolving product specs, sustainability goals, and market trends that impact AI member companies and an unmatched opportunity to network with those most dedicated to the roofing industry in an entertaining atmosphere.
