The Asphalt Institute Foundation (AIF) announced that Martin Carlson will serve as chairman and Michael Rogers will be the keynote speaker for their 2017 symposium.
From May 10-12, 2017 asphalt experts will gather in Colorado Springs, Colorado to discuss the asphalt technology of tomorrow as part of the inaugural Strategic Asphalt Research (STAR) symposium.
Carlson contributed greatly to the international asphalt industry as the director of business development at Nynas and through his works with Eurobitume.
Rogers is a best-selling author and futurist. His writing credits include “Rolling Stone”, “Newsweek” and “The New York Times.” He speaks regularly on how companies can plan for the future in useful ways.
The future is a focus for the symposium. While much of today’s industry research is funded with the aim of solving problems or trying to understand material behavior, little if any research is focused on breakthrough change for the benefit of industry.
AIF aims to encourage STAR participants by focusing on economic, worker, sustainability and performance issues at this event.
Organizations and companies are encouraged to nominate potential attendees. Individuals who are chosen will be part of this think tank experience to determine future research and industry direction. Nominations are now being accepted at this link.
Symposium sponsors to date include Malarkey Roofing Products, ExxonMobil – Imperial Oil, Phillips 66, Owens Corning, McCall Oil and Chemical Corporation, World Oil, Asphalt & Fuel Supply, Kraton, U.S. Polyco and Ergon.
