Highway materials costs climb 22 percent in past two years

According to a study conducted by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, highway materials prices have increased by 22 percent in the past two years. Iron and steel prices had the greatest increase at 60 percent; sand, gravel and stone increased by 11 percent. Ready-mix concrete increased by 18 percent and asphalt paving mixes increased by 10 percent.
