Asphalt selected for railroad trackbeds

The efforts of the Asphalt Institute to showcase the advantages of HMA for railroad trackbeds are now paying off. The BNSF Railroad has been making extensive use of HMA on their transcontinental double tracking projects in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Nearly 200 miles of RR trackbed has been constructed making exclusive use of 6 inches of HMA trackbed underlayment. The Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad has indicated that HMA will be used on part of their expansion project from the coal fields of Wyoming to the Mississippi River.
